This month's links are about the Wiki. No, not kiwi (A kiwi is any of the species of small flightless birds native to New Zealand of the genus Apteryx) WIKI! A wiki is a collaborative web concept that is showing itself here and there around the web. What is a wiki? Wiki descriptions are as mystifying as the technology that would dare to aspire:
"Open Wiki offers the post-it note of the web. It's that simple. A quick and easy way to post your thoughts to the web from anywhere and retrievable from anywhere."
-OpenWiki
"Interesting and interested people; civility and community without sacrificing dissent." -WikiWikiWeb
"In addition to being quick, this site also aspires to Zen ideals generally labeled WabiSabi. Zen finds beauty in the imperfect and ephemeral. When it comes down to it, that's all you need." -FlashCoders.
Here are a few Wiki sites that will get you started to discovering wiki:
Wikipedia. The Free Encyclopedia.
This site is fantastic reference.
Wikitravel. The Free Travel Guide.
I enjoy travel and hope to keep this site as a reference for the future. It's a global guide and features major areas near you. Since its a Wiki, you can get your town added. I'm sure there is some reason to visit.
OddMuse. A Well Organized Wiki Site.
A great look at the basic set up and maintenance of Wiki sites. I personally tested my site using the OddMuse Wiki engine.
FlashCoders. A Tech Wiki for Flash Developers.
